This gorgeous specimen of Lucky 13 Seed's Laughing Lion is known to produce fits of laugher before completely knocking you out into a profoundly relaxing slumber

I am somewhat perplexed by the lack of effectiveness CBD has on promoting sleep and helping insomnia, at least when it comes to myself, personally. I have frequently read that the higher levels of CBD (relatively speaking), in indica dominant cannabis, is the reason these cultivars work better than sativas for helping insomnia and inducing sedation. This has not been my experience. In fact it has been quite the opposite. I have found that smoking high CBD strains during the day keep me more active and alert, and do not sedate me in the least. This leads me to believe that there is some other compound at work, or combination of compounds, in indica dominant cannabis that create their powerful somniferous effects.

I will admit, when smoking high CBD strains I certainly find myself more relaxed and at ease, and when I do eventually fall asleep it is a more restful and rejuvenate sleep. However, if Morpheus eludes me and I find myself awake into the wee hours of the night, I am going to be reaching for one of my very heavy pure indicas to knock me out. I currently use Laughing Lion (pictured), Romulan, or Peanut Butter Herijuana as my go-to sleep aids; regularly rotating them so as not to develop a tolerance to their sedative effects.

I should mention that I am currently testing a CBD enhanced version of our classic Romulan. To do this we took pollen from our prized Romulan stud and pollenated a particularly impressive phenotype of Cannatonic - the original high CBD strain and by far the top performer in my giant CBD shootout. This new strain, which I’m calling Startropic, combines all the medicinal benefit of Romulan (such as pain relief, nausea suppression, and sleep enhancement) with the calming, and less overpowering effects of Cannatonic. The aroma and flavour have also proven to be incredible. The lemony Romulan pairs absolutely perfectly with the intense tropical fruit flavour of Cannatonic. We’ll be releasing more info on Startropic soon.
