After years of exploring the legendary Hawaiian Sativa line, we set out to find a way to capitalize on its incredible resilience in hot, humid climates while improving its bud structure for a more modern, dense appearance. The answer came while cultivating the enigmatic Shiatsu Kush alongside the Hawaiian.

From a large pool of Shiatsu Kush males, we carefully selected a few top contenders, eventually narrowing it down to a single pair after extensive testing. These particular males not only thrived in hot, sticky conditions but also produced some of the most resinous and pungent flowers we've ever encountered. Growing these alongside our Hawaiian Sativa plants revealed a striking similarity between one particular Hawaiian female and one Shiatsu male, from their height and branching to their leaf morphology. They seemed like a perfect match, so we knew we had to mate them.

The resulting hybrid, Pacific Rim, immediately impressed us. From the very early stages of flowering, resin begins to flow from the undeveloped buds, down the petioles, and onto the fan leaves. But what’s truly remarkable is the sharp, pungent aroma. A combination of turpentine, cedar, and sour diesel funk fills the room from the first crack of the jar. The smoke is expansive and smooth, leaving a pleasant aftertaste on the tongue that keeps you coming back for more. For most casual smokers, though, this is definitely a one-hitter quitter.

The potency of the Shiatsu Kush dad hits hard and fast, delivering an almost immediate effect upon exhalation. The Hawaiian Sativa genetics provide the "legs," making the high last longer and feel nearly endless. Pacific Rim grows tall, gaining significant height in the first few weeks of flowering. Its branching is moderate, with long satellite branches reaching upwards toward the main cola at a natural angle, requiring little to no training. We recommend topping early to encourage multiple stems, which will bulk up heavily during the final weeks of bloom. One of the standout features of Pacific Rim is its structural integrity. Unlike many lanky tropical sativas, it doesn’t require extensive trellising, making it much easier to grow—especially in wind-swept outdoor locations. Combined with its natural resistance to mold and mildew, Pacific Rim is an excellent choice for outdoor growers, particularly those in coastal areas, who have struggled with crop losses due to rot and broken branches during challenging seasons.
