Island Glow is an exotic tropical cultivar that blends the mythical Federation Hawaiian Sativa with the ultra-rare Pineapple Hashplant. If you’ve ever wondered what Pineapple Express should have been, this is it.

Genetics and Origins

Our Pineapple Hashplant was discovered while searching through an old batch of heirloom Hashplant S1 seeds—an iconic Canadian strain known for its stocky structure and extremely fast flowering. We were pleasantly surprised to find a unique, trichome-laden phenotype that oozed resin from every nook and cranny. What stood out the most was its unexpected ripe pineapple aroma—completely atypical for this line. With no male in the Hashplant line, we immediately turned to our Federation Hawaiian Sativa collection to find the perfect pollen donor to complement the tropical essence of this plant.

Seed Characteristics and Germination

The pairing of these two exceptional plants resulted in offspring that immediately caught our attention. The first anomaly was the oddly shaped seeds—almost polygonal in structure, with deep glossy brown shells, teardrop-shaped and featuring multiple seams on nearly every seed.

Upon germination (be sure to use a heated seedling mat for this one), you’ll find short-statured plants, much like the Pineapple Hashplant mother, but with the thin leaflets of the Hawaiian Sativa father. As the plants grow, exaggerated jigsaw-like serrations begin to appear on the foliage. Some phenotypes even express the rare double-serrated edges typically seen in old Mexican and equatorial sativas.

Growth and Cultivation

As Island Glow matures, the best traits of both parents shine through. Most phenotypes express a medium height, narrow-leaf sativa structure, with branchy, exotic foliage. Resin production is off the charts, with buds glistening like sparkling diamonds from the start of bud set. When fully mature, Island Glow takes on the appearance of a frosted Christmas tree, completely covered in glistening resin.

Aroma and Flavor Profile

The aroma of Island Glow is a dynamic fusion of menthol, eucalyptus, and spice from the Hawaiian Sativa, combined with the fresh, sweet pineapple scent from the Pineapple Hashplant. This blend creates a tropical, zesty fragrance reminiscent of a spiced pineapple rum punch or a vibrant tropical salsa. For extract enthusiasts, Island Glow produces some of the most mouthwatering bubble hash and rosin you can imagine. The trichome production is exceptional, with resin glands stacked nearly on top of each other, giving the resin a soft, melty texture ideal for concentrates.
